EMF monitoring by the Federal Network Agency
With its site certification procedure the Federal Network Agency ensures that the limits applicable in Germany for the protection of persons exposed to electromagnetic fields of radio installations are consistently applied without fail.
The site certification procedure is at the core of a modular EMF monitoring system.
Each radio installation requiring site certification is assessed individually by the Federal Network Agency and also checked on site at irregular intervals.
Technical changes resulting in an extension of the safety distance specified by the Federal Network Agency lead to a reassessment, i.e. to an adjustment of the safety distances to be adhered to.
Should it not be possible to adhere to the safety distances prescribed by the Federal Network Agency in its site certificate at the location of installation, then the radio installation may not be put into operation.
